VELFAC Glazing Filters, Treatments & Coatings

At Minimal Frame Projects we have a number of choices when it comes to glazing filters, films and coatings.

The entire VELFAC windows and door range offers a comprehensive choice of glass options, tailored to meet specific room, climate and location requirements.

The standard CLEAR glass provides excellent insulation and clear views, enhanced by a heat-reflective coating and argon gas.

For higher insulation needs, the ENERGY unit with triple glazing is available.

SUN25 and SUN35 glasses offer solar control, with varying degrees of heat reflection and light transmission.

DÉCOR glass ensures privacy and safety with multiple design choices.

SOUND glass options significantly reduce noise, ideal for urban settings.

SAFETY glass - available in laminated or toughened forms, is designed for high-impact areas, ensuring both safety and added security.

VELFAC Clear - The standard choice

The standard VELFAC CLEAR glass ensures bright interiors and clear outdoor views. Its heat-reflective coating on the inner surface, coupled with argon gas in the cavity, provides excellent insulation.

A standard VELFAC 200 double glazed window, size W1230 x H1480mm with CLEAR glass, achieves a U-value of 1.47 W/m²K. For enhanced insulation, the VELFAC ENERGY unit of the same window combines triple glazing, argon gas, and a ‘WarmEdge’ spacer, so can offer impressive U-values as low as 0.80 W/m²K.

VELFAC Sun - Solar control

VELFAC SUN25 glass, with its neutral coating, reflects up to 60% of solar heat while maintaining natural light flow, ideal for large windows or those facing south/west.

The VELFAC SUN35 variant has a darker coating for additional solar control, slightly altering external colour appearance but is hugely effective at blocking those dazzling rays.

VELFAC Décor - Privacy glass

VELFAC DÉCOR - Opaque glass is available in five designs, with comprehensive colour choices and options like matt foil lamination - that provides a sand-blasted look and enhance safety.

At Minimal Frame Projects we recommend using VELFAC DÉCOR glass externally or in the middle layer with VELFAC CLEAR, or internally/middle with VELFAC SUN.

VELFAC Sound - Noise reduction

Effective noise control is key. While double glazing reduces noise, thicker or varied glass combinations can further enhance acoustic performance. Standard VELFAC windows with Rw32 rating can be upgraded to Rw41 by adjusting glass thickness and the glazing rebate.

VELFAC Safety - Protective glass

Safety glass - necessary in high-impact or barrier-needed areas, comes in laminated or toughened glass options. VELFAC SAFETY glass is designed to break safely, minimising injury risk and offers additional security due to its proven strength against impact and the forces of nature.
